Assyrtiko and Serifotiko come together in a cru wine from Syros, with citrus, salinity and a subtle buttery note. It begins with intensity and knife-edge acidity that lingers on the palate and in the mind. Then comes ginger and grapefruit peel: spicy, warm, almost biscuit-like, giving the wine an unexpected second dimension. There’s something celestial about it; distant winds rolling up and over broken hills, sea-crusted vines clinging to the earth in search of nourishment, as we turn to Isolation for ours.
