Reteno is an ancient variety of Ikaria that disappeared from the vineyards over the years, as it proved particularly difficult to cultivate. In 2001, George Karimalis, one of the first naturalists in Greece and a great supporter of spontaneous fermentations, replanted Reteno using cuttings from old mountainous vineyards. Naturalistas is 100% Reteno, aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
It opens with dark plum and crushed herbs, is broad and warming on the palate and smacks of the granite on which it grew.
